There were wild bears in the mountain area of Vassfaret until 1972. The Bear Park has recreated old Vassfaret with old buildings and animals in their true element.

New in 2008 was the experience centre Vassfarhallen. In 2009 two bears were born.
2010: Now there are four new baby bears to see!

Vassfaret Bear Park is a zoo displaying animals from Vassfaret in their natural habitat. The main attraction is the bears, but you can also see moose, deer, birds and tame animals like pigs, goats, sheep and rabbits. Children can feed the animals, solve puzzles, or follow the nature trail and follow animal tracks.
